Frances L. Atkins

Frances Lillian Atkins, 98, Depauw, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Harrison Health & Rehabilitation Centre in Corydon.
Born Dec. 30, 1911, at Depauw, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Malinda J. Gurtz Arnold.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Frenchtown.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Atkins Sr.; a daughter, Rose Mary Leake; two brothers, Ollie and Myrt Arnold; and a sister, Mildred Sauerheber.
Survivors include a son, Samuel J. Atkins Jr. of Depauw; a daughter, Shirley Ann Kannapel of Depauw; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 3 to 8 p.m. and tomorrow after 8 a.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Funeral: Thursday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Frenchtown followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Officiant: The Rev. Dan Atkins.
Pallbearers: David and Brian Atkins, Paul S. Kannapel, John Hudson, Brent Keith, Tyler Episcopo and Travis Smith.
