Paul Jacob Stiffey, 89, Elizabeth, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Sept. 29, 1920, in Indiana County, Pa., he was an Army veteran of World War II, a mechanic and owner and operator of Stiffey’s Garage in Sellersburg, and a member of VFW Post 3261 in New Albany, Masonic Lodge 39 in New Albany and Church of God in Charlestown.
Survivors include his wife, the former Dorothy Knear; six sons, Paul and Clifford Stiffey, both of Sellersburg, Phil Stiffey of Florida and John Hurley and Allen and Dale Johnson, all of Elizabeth; two daughters, Virginia Huber of Myersdale, Pa., and Phyllis Stiffey of Pennsylvania; a sister, Betty Walter of Johnstown, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 15, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Tuesday, Dec. 15, at noon at the funeral home with burial in Glenwood Cemetery in Elizabeth.
Officiant: The Rev. Jim McIntosh.
Pallbearers: Clifford and Paul Stiffey, Dale Wayne and Allen Johnson, John Hurley and Glen Elliott.
