Let there be Light(s)

The 2009 edition of Light Up Corydon will take place Saturday on and around the square in downtown Corydon.
Events will start at noon with the merchant open house, the Hendricks’ open house (from noon to 6 p.m.) and free carriage rides until 9 p.m.
Other events, listed below, will lead up to a fireworks display at 6:30 p.m. and Santa Claus counting down the lighting of the square at 6:40.
Events throughout the day are:
2 to 4 p.m. ‘ Registration for WKLO Kringle Jingle Kash prize of $96.90 (two prizes will be awarded);
4 p.m. ‘ Registration at tent next to Hurley D. Conrad Memorial Bandstand for a shopping spree and Harrison County Extension Homemakers cookie walk begins;
5 p.m. ‘ Christmas entertainment begins on the bandstand;
6 to 8 p.m. ‘ Live nativity scene and nativity collection display at Corydon United Methodist Church on the square;
6:20 p.m. ‘ Live storytelling of ‘ ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ on the bandstand;
6:30 ‘ Fireworks display;
6:40 ‘ Santa Claus leads count down for lighting of the square;
6:50 ‘ Drawing for shopping spree;
7 to 9 p.m. ‘ Pictures and visits with Santa in the First State Capitol Building;
8 p.m. ‘ Hayswood Theatre presents musical comedy ‘Nuncrackers.’
For those who don’t want to stand in an anticipated long line, pictures with Santa at the First State Capitol will also be taken Dec. 5, 12 and 19 from 1 to 5 p.m.
