William A. Smith
William A. Smith, 70, Elizabeth, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Jan. 15, 1939, in Louisville, he was the son of the late William A. and Letha Beatrice Baugh Smith.
He was a retired printer for Ashley Printing in Jeffersonville, was a founding member of the Portland Anchor Newspaper in Louisville and was a member of the Redman Club and St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Louisville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, William Darrell Smith.
Survivors include his wife, the former Norma Cook; two sons, William C. Smith and David M. Smith, both of Elizabeth; a daughter, Karen Firster of Elizabeth; a brother, Daniel L. Smith of Sharon, Texas; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation: Sunday, Nov. 15, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 16, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Monday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research.
