Soccer postseason tourneys set
The postseason trek in soccer begins this week.
Floyd Central plays host to the girls’ and boys’ sectional tournaments.
The five-team Boys’ Sectional 60 kicks off tomorrow (Thursday) when New Albany faces Corydon Central at 6 p.m. The Panthers defeated the Bulldogs, 2-1, in late August. The winner will take on Silver Creek in a semi-final Saturday at 1 p.m.
The opposite semi-final match pits North Harrison against Floyd Central Saturday at 11 a.m.
The championship game will be played Saturday night at 7.
The nine-team Girls’ Sectional 28 begins Monday and concludes with the championship on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Playing the opening game will be North Harrison vs. Floyd Central on Monday at 5 p.m.
Quarterfinal games will also take place Monday. In game two, at 6:45 p.m., Charlestown will face Silver Creek. The final game Monday will feature Corydon Central against Christian Academy at 8:30. The winner of each quarterfinal will square off Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. for a shot at the finals.
The opposite side of the bracket features New Albany at Providence (Tuesday, 6 p.m.) and the winner of the North Harrison-Floyd Central match against Jeffersonville (Tuesday, 8 p.m.).
The championship match will take place Saturday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m.
