A. Barkley Travis
A. Barkley Travis, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at his home after an extended illness.
He started his Rural Electric career in 1958 at Fulton-Hickman Rural Electric in Hickman, Ky., and was manager of Harrison Rural Electric in Clarksburg, W.Va., Harrison REMC in Corydon and Presque Isle Rural Electric in Onaway, Mich. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a Duke of Paducah.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Travis; six children, Judy Neibauer and Madeleine Travis, both of Orange Park, Fla., Caroline Travis of Cantonment, Fla., William (Dub) Travis of Hampton, Va., James Travis of Corydon and John Travis of New Salisbury; a sister, Mary Evelyn Campbell of Kuttawa, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Oct. 2, after 1 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Memorial service with Masonic rites: Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Doom Chapel Cemetery in Kuttawa or Hosparus, the Community Hospice of Southern Indiana.
