Marion L. Qualkenbush

Marion Leon (Gabby) Qualkenbush, 85, Corydon, formerly of Nashville, Tenn., died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, in Sun City Center, Fla.
Born Nov. 15, 1923, in Monon, he was the son of the late Raymond and Opal Hughes Qualkenbush.
He graduated from Monon High School in 1942, served in the Army during World War II and worked for the Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville Railroad which merged into the Louisville & Nashville Railroad. He retired from the CSX Railroad.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis J. Qualkenbush, in 1985, and two stepsons, Kermit Alton and Larry Allen Schneider.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, the former Marjorie Schneider; a daughter, Nancy Lafavre of Whiting, N.J.; a sister, Ilene Qualkinbush of Greenwood; a granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
Visitation: Thursday, Sept. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 25, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Friday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Lanesville followed by burial in the church cemetery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
