Sandwiched between a few golf outings in the morning and a wedding on No. 9 in the late afternoon, the Mid-Southern Conference girls’ golf tournament at Old Capital Golf Club went on Saturday without a hitch.
Corydon Central’s Heidi Zimmerman held her own on her home course and pulled out a five-stroke victory over second-place finisher Jami Wehmiller from Brownstown Central.
The Lady Panther senior carded a 4-over par 76 for the top spot. She played the back nine 1-under par.
Corydon Central placed third in the team standings, five strokes behind first-place Brownstown Central, which finished with a 360. Salem placed second, one stroke back with a 361.
The Lady Panthers also placed Heather Uhl as MSC Honorable Mention, carding a 92. Other scores for Corydon Central were Melanie Windell’s 97, Carley Key’s 100 and Jessica Bartley’s 116.
North Harrison, the defending champion, failed to record a team score but was well represented by freshman Devin Smith. Smith had a steady round of 87, good for a sixth-place finish and All-Conference honors.
Also participating from North Harrison were Kelsey Brunner (116) and Kelsey Barnett (124).
