Juanita E. Stewart

Juanita Eleanor Stewart, 73, Elizabeth, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at her home in New Albany.
Born Sept. 28, 1935, in Cape Sandy, she was the daughter of the late Chaney Earl and Mary Elizabeth Heppel Cummings.
She was a retired certified nurse assistant in Floyd and Clark counties.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Ann Ireland; a brother, Jimmy Lee Cummings; a sister, Brenda Cox; and two grandchildren, Jordan Willard Simmons and Kelly Jo Stewart.
Survivors include a son, John William Stewart of Memphis; two daughters, Elizabeth Pearl Simmons Gurtz of Corydon and Peggy Sue Gatewood of New Albany; a stepdaughter, Ruby Jane Stewart of Millville, N.J.; four brothers, Alfred Cummings of Leavenworth, Donnie Cummings of Indianapolis, Earl Ray Cummings of Corydon and J.O. Cummings of Bradford; a sister, Jean Grace of Evansville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 3, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Thursday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
