J.D. Lawhorn, 78, Eckerty, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at 5 p.m. at V.A. Medical Center in Louisville.
Born May 11, 1931, in Albany, Ky., he was the son of the late Charles B. Lawhorn and Ella Mae Groce.
He was a carpenter-finisher, an Army veteran of the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, and a member of Wickliffe United Methodist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Lawhorn, and two sisters, Rubu and Judy.
Survivors include his wife, the former Viola Russ; four children, Vicki Sokan of Yorkville, Ill., David B. Lawhorn of Pleasureville, Ky., C. Jay Lawhorn of Floyds Knobs and Lara Warren of Memphis; five brothers, Jim, John, Ford, Tom and Rob Lawhorn, all of Arkansas; three sisters, Sue Stevenson, Linda Fincher and Ann Burrow, all of Arkansas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Saturday, Aug. 15, at Denbo Funeral Home in English with burial in Wickliffe Cemetery.
