Carl C. Griffith

Carl Clarkson Griffith, 71, English, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at his home.
Born Sept. 14, 1937, in Shady Spring, W.Va., he was the son of the late Jack Griffith and Odetta Phillips.
He was a truck driver for Pegasus Truck Line in Louisville and a member of Northside Christian Church in New Albany.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth H. Griffith; four brothers, Thomas, James, Chester and Sammie Griffith; and a sister, Linda Cooper.
Survivors include his wife, the former Elizabeth Chernutan; two daughters, Sheila Murrell of New Albany and Shelly Anderson of Louisville; a stepson, Donald L. Johnson of Bridgeton, N.J.; a brother, Armond Joseph Griffith; three sisters, Laura Belle Mallam of Remmington, Va., Janice Sue Lee of Jacksonville, Fla., and Melissa Lynn Lester of Beaver, W.Va.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Friday, Aug. 14, at Coots Funeral Home in Jeffersonville with entombment in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
