William E. Garvin Jr.

William E. (Bill) Garvin Jr., 80, Floyds Knobs, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, was retired from Colgate Co. after some 42 years of service, and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Anola June Garvin, who died in 2000.
Survivors include five children, Linda Banet, Diane Thompson and Becky Smith, all of Floyds Knobs, Bill Garvin III of Sellersburg and Chris Garvin of Palmyra; two brothers, Donnie and Tom Garvin; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation: Wednesday, July 8, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Kraft Funeral Service in New Albany.
Funeral: Thursday, July 9, at noon at the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel, with full military honors, followed by private entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
