Pairings announced for baseball and softball
The pairings for the IHSAA baseball tournament were released yesterday (Tuesday).
The Class 3A sectional will be played at Silver Creek High School. The opening game will pit Harrison County foes North Harrison against Corydon Central Wednesday, May 27, at 6 p.m.
Games two and three will take place Thursday, May 28. Game two will start at 5 p.m. with Mitchell and Class 3A No. 11 Charlestown squaring off. Game three will feature Crawford County versus Silver Creek at approximately 7:45.
The semi-finals will take place Monday, June 1. Receiver of the bye, Salem, will play the North Harrison-Corydon Central winner at 5 p.m. The second semi-final will feature the winners of games two and three at approximately 7:45.
The championship game will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 2.
North Harrison has won two consecutive sectional titles.
The Class A baseball sectional will be hosted by South Central.
The host team, Class A No. 10 Rebels, face county foe Lanesville in the first round Thursday, May 28, at 6 p.m. Game two will feature Borden against New Washington at approximately 8 p.m., also on Thursday.
The semi-finals will take place Friday, May 29, with the winners of games one and two facing one another at 6 p.m. followed by Christian Academy against defending sectional champion, Class A No. 8 Henryville at 8.
The championship game will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, June 1.
Admission is $5 per game or a season ticket to each sectional is $8.
For the 25th consecutive year, the field is set for the IHSAA softball state tournament.
Corydon Central High School is hosting the Class 3A No. 30 Sectional. Play begins Memorial Day, May 25, with three games on the slate. Class 3A No. 13 Corydon Central has won the sectional the last two seasons.
Game one features Salem versus Silver Creek at 1 p.m., followed by game two, Crawford County versus North Harrison at 3 p.m., and wrapping up with Corydon Central versus Mitchell at 5 p.m.
The semi-finals will take place Tuesday when receiver of the bye, Charlestown, faces the winner of game one at 6 p.m. The second semi-final features the winner of games two and three at 8 p.m.
The championship game is slated for Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m.
The winner will move on to the Boonville Regional on Saturday, June 6.
The Class A No. 62 Sectional will be hosted by two-time defending sectional champion Henryville.
The five-team sectional begins Monday with two games. In game one, Class A No. 11 Lanesville will play Christian Academy at 11 a.m. followed by New Washington versus No. 5 Henryville at 1.
South Central drew the bye and will play the Lanesville-CAI winner Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The championship game will take place next Wednesday at 5 p.m. The winner advances to the North Daviess Regional, set for Saturday, June 6.
Admission for sectional is $5 per session or $8 for an all-session pass.
