Sylvia F. Smith

Sylvia Fern Pfeiffer Smith, 91, Depauw, formerly of Frenchtown and Corydon, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born March 27, 1918, in the Lickford area of Harrison County, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Radie Mae Crecelius Pfeiffer.
She was a retired employee of Harrison County Hospital in Corydon and a member of St. Rita’s Alter Society and St. Bernard Catholic Church, both in Frenchtown.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Waldo G. Smith; two brothers, William E. and David Pfeiffer; two sisters, Rosie Rowland and Lucy Faye Haas; and a grandchild.
Survivors include two sons Delbert K. Smith I of Ramsey and Herschel G. Smith of Depauw; a brother, Bernie (Bud) Pfeiffer of Corydon; a sister, Mary Rothrock of Corydon; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Saturday, May 16, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Frenchtown with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiant: The Rev. John Fink.
Organist: Michelle Whittaker.
Vocalists: The church choir.
Pallbearers: Donald, David, Daniel, Herschel, Delbert, George and Brad Smith.
Arrangements: Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
