Mary E. Ashton

Mary E. Ashton, 77, New Castle, formerly of Corydon, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Henry County Hospital.
Born April 18, 1932, in Davenport, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Einer and Janan Huner Dahl.
She was a 1949 graduate of Howe High School, a seamstress and musician, a member of First Presbyterian Church in New Castle and a former member of Corydon Presbyterian Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Ashton, and a son, Michael William Sexton.
Survivors include two children, Jim Sexton of Coatesville and Sue Schroerlucke of Sidney, Ohio; two sisters, Barbara Eckdahl of Tucson, Ariz., and Christine Schweitzer of Spartansburg, Pa.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life: Friday, May 1, at First Presbyterian Church in New Castle.
Officiant: The Rev. Rex Espiritu.
Memorial service: Saturday, May 2, at Corydon Presbyterian Church with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Arrangements: Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the YMCA or Corydon Little League.
