Donald E. (Don) Hibma, 87, formerly of Phoenix and Broken Arrow, Okla., died Friday, May 1, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.
Born Jan. 9, 1922, in Harris, Iowa, he was the son of the late Nick and Anna Jansma Hibma.
He was a graduate of Harris (Iowa) High School and attended Glendale Community College, was an Army veteran who served during World War II, was a dairy farmer and a chemist at Norwalk Refinery, owned Don’s Landscaping Service, had been the greens man at Papago Golf Course in Phoenix, was a Sunday School teacher, and attended Rhema Bible Church and Tulsa First Four Square Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Timothy Hibma, a sister and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, the former Betty Hutslar, formerly of Milltown; a son, Carl Hibma of Broken Arrow; three daughters, Beth Williams of Bennett, Colo., and Janice Hofstra and Michelle Dudley, both of Broken Arrow; three sisters, Marie Frost of Big Rock, Ill., Leona Frohardt of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Phyllis Frost, Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Ervin Hibma of Harris, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Monday, May 4, at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Park Grove Cemetery, both in Broken Arrow.
Officiants: The Revs. John Arthur and Rick Fern.
