Juanita G. McCarty, 93, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Harrison Health & Rehabilitation Centre in Corydon.
Born Oct. 6, 1915, in Corydon, she was the daughter of the late Cort Green and Anna Bottles.
She was a homemaker, a member of New Amsterdam United Methodist Church, a former member of the New Amsterdam Council and a former precinct committeeman for the Republican party.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cordia McCarty; a son, Olney F. McCarty; and two sisters, Annis Brown Baxley and Ruby Henderson.
Survivors include a daughter, Carman Cunningham of Louisville; two sons, Denny M. McCarty of Corydon and Jimmy H. McCarty of Depauw; a brother, Raymond Green of Cyahoga Falls, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 37 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Saturday, April 25, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 26, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in New Amsterdam Cemetery.
Officiants: Michael McCarty and Jimmy Darrell McCarty.
The family suggests memorials to the New Amsterdam Cemetery Fund.
