Ethel M. Powers

Ethel M. Powers, 74, Corydon, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Indian Creek Health & Rehabilitation Center in Corydon.
Born March 5, 1935, in Canaan, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Anna Brown Bocash.
She was a former cook at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, an inspector for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and a member of the VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary in Derry, N.H.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, Wilbur and Elmer Bocash, and two sisters, Elsie Fekany and Laura Bocash.
Survivors include her husband, Milford H. (Sonny) Powers; a son, Charles (Chip) Smart of Corydon; three daughters, Anna Shepherd and Cindy Wininger, both of Corydon, and Violet Stiles of New Albany; 16 grandchildren, including Anna M. Wheatley of Corydon, whom she reared and who cared for her; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service: Saturday, April 4, at 4 p.m. at Hillview Apartments in Corydon.
