Doris O. Johnston

Doris O. Johnston, 68, Louisville, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.
Born Dec. 10, 1940, in Lanesville, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Lelia Schoen Blank.
She was a retired employee of the U.S. Fidelity and Guaranty in Louisville, a homemaker, a member of the German-American Club and a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell (Chick) Blank.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Kenneth Johnston; a stepdaughter, Deborah Donnell, of Louisville; five brothers, Wilfred W. and Oscar Blank, both of Corydon, Herman Blank of Greenville and Omar and Alvin Blank, both of Lanesville; four sisters, Lucille Stewart of Elizabeth, Suzanne Windell of Corydon and Bernice Sonner and Carmen Shewmaker, both of Lanesville; and a step-granddaughter.
Visitation: Thursday, March 5, from 3 to 9 p.m. and Friday, March 6, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
Funeral: Friday, March 6, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Lanesville with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiants: Pastors Richard Heinz and Christopher Truelsen.
Pallbearers: Ernie Powell, Dean Donnell, Brian and Darrell Blank, Roger Stewart and Troy Sonner.
Honorary pallbearers: Doug Blank, Jason Windell, Wade Sonner, Darrell and Russell Shewmaker and Rodney and Richard Stewart.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to her church.
