Iona M. Elrod

Iona M. Elrod, 85, Corydon, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at her home.
Born Dec. 17, 1923, in Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Carrie Bell Harris Fulkerson.
She was a homemaker, a Pennington Chapel correspondent for The Corydon Democrat for at least 40 years, and a member of Pennington Chapel Cemetery Association, The Silver Liners, Spencer Township Homemakers Club and Hursttown United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson P. (Bud) Elrod; a brother, Bob Fulkerson; a sister, Doris M. Fulkerson; and a grandchild.
Survivors include three sons, Donald E. Elrod of Ramsey, Michael R. Elrod of Corydon and Mark E. Elrod of Marengo; three daughters, Retta J. Chinn of Depauw and Sharon K. Webb and Darlene F. Elrod, both of Ramsey; a brother, Vance Fulkerson of Floyds Knobs; two sisters, Nancy Rainbolt of Salem and Betty Snyder of Jeffersonville; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Monday, Feb. 23, at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey with burial in Pennington Chapel Cemetery near Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Rodney Shelton.
Pallbearers: Terry Roach, Fred Satterfield, Jerry Davis, Charles Cook, Paul Smith and Tim Thomas.
