Sectional pairings released

Cancellations and an ice storm didn’t delay the IHSAA girls’ basketball sectional draw Thursday.
The following locations will host sectionals: Class 4A at Seymour and Class 3A at Corydon Central.
At the Corydon Central Sectional, the two heavyweights of the seven-team sectional will face-off in the first round. No. 14 North Harrison (15-3) will take on No. 16 Mitchell (13-3) in the opening round on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m.
The North Harrison-Mitchell winner will await the victor between Charlestown (8-9) and Salem (9-8).
The host team, Corydon Central (8-9), will kick off the sectional on Tuesday, Feb. 10, against Silver Creek (5-13) at 7 p.m. The Lady Panthers are the defending sectional champion. The winner will take on the Lady Wolfpack of Crawford County (12-7) who received the bye on Friday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m.
The semi-finals will take place on Friday, followed by the championship on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7:30.
At the South Central Sectional, the defending sectional champion Lady Rebels (8-10) drew the bye.
The first game of the sectional will feature No. 10 New Washington (15-3) against Henryville (9-10) on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. South Central, ranked No. 18, will play the winner on Friday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m.
On the opposite side of the bracket, Lanesville (6-13) will take on Rock Creek Academy (1-16) on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7:30 p.m. The winner will take on the winner of the No. 18-ranked Borden (9-7) versus Christian Academy (12-7) contest.
The semi-finals will take place Friday, Feb. 13, followed by the championship game on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for the Class 3A Corydon Central girls’ basketball sectional are on sale at the Corydon Central High School athletic office from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Games begin Tuesday, Feb. 8. Season tickets are $9. Tickets will be $5 at the door per session. Season tickets will also be sold at the boys’ basketball game Friday night.
