Teams set to participate in holiday tournaments

Many Harrison County teams will participate in holiday tournaments during the upcoming weeks. Here is a preview of where each local team will play.
Corydon Central and North Harrison will participate in the 3-day PSC Holiday Classic starting on Friday and concluding on Monday. The 8-team event will take place at Tell City and South Spencer (Reo) schools.
Corydon Central (1-4) will play in the opening game against Perry Central (3-2) at Tell City at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Following game one, North Harrison (1-4) will face Tell City (3-3) on the Marksmen’s home court at 8:30.
Second-round games will take place on Saturday, and the position games on Tuesday.
Lanesville will play in Mackey Arena, home of the Purdue Boilermakers, on Saturday as part of the Super Hoops New Year Classic. The day will feature six boys’ games and one girls’ game.
The Eagles (3-3) will play Northeast Dubois (4-2) at 3:15 p.m. Also, as part of the event, former North Harrison boys’ basketball coach Rick Snodgrass will lead his current team, Portage, against Twin Lakes in the game following Lanesville’s contest.
The South Central boys’ will play in the Shelby County (Ky.) Tournament starting on Monday and wrapping up on Tuesday.
Corydon Central plays in the one-day, four-team Jennings County Tournament on Saturday. The opening game pits East Central (3-5) against the host school, Jennings County (4-5) at 10 a.m. In game two, Corydon Central (5-4) will do battle against Indian Creek (7-2) at 11:45 a.m.
The consolation game will take place at 6 p.m. followed by the championship at 8.
Lanesville plays in the Loogootee Classic on Saturday. The Lady Eagles (0-8) open the tournament against Loogootee (4-5) at 10 a.m. Game two features Indianapolis Lutheran (2-7) against Riverton Parke (1-8) at noon.
The consolation game will take place at 6 p.m., and the championship follows at 8.
South Central has the shortest trip over the holidays as the Lady Rebels will play in the Floyd Central Tournament Jan. 2 and 3. The Lady Rebels open the eight-team tournament against New Albany (5-3) Jan. 2 at 4:15 p.m.
Other teams in the field include Presentation (Ky.) (3-3), Martinsville (3-5), Castle (4-6), Pleasure Ridge Park (Ky.) (3-7), Floyd Central (7-1) and a team from Australia, the Cobras.
North Harrison, off to a fast 10-1 record, should be tested in the 11-team Rumble on the River at Southwestern (Hanover) on Jan. 2 and 3.
The Class 3A No. 6 Lady Cats open play against Tates Creek (Ky.) (3-5) on Jan. 2 at noon. Other teams in the tournament include Columbus East (7-1), Class 2A No. 9 Austin (6-2), Jasper (4-4), Southwestern (6-3), Franklin County (6-2), Class 4A No. 5 Fishers (8-1), Connersville (8-3), Cambridge City Lincoln (4-5) and McCutcheon (6-4).
