Christina M. Huffman

Christina Mathys Huffman, 93, Houston, formerly of Corydon, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008.
Born March 31, 1915, in Mauckport, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Alfred and Rose Faith Mathys.
She was a graduate of Mauckport High School, continued her higher education in Louisville and Evansville, earning a Medical Laboratory Technologist Certification, began working at Harrison County Hospital in 1953, was responsible for establishing its Medical Records Dept., where she was director until her retirement in 1980, and was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Huffman, in 1951, and a granddaughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) Stauth; a sister, Hermena Minter; a grandson; and two great-grandsons.
Cremation was chosen. A private memorial was held with her ashes returned to Indiana. Claire Brothers Funeral Home in Houston handled arrangements.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Salvation Army or Kosair Children’s Charities.
Memorial service: Saturday, June 14, at 2 p.m. at Mauckport United Methodist Church.
