Howard H. Reed

Howard H. Reed, 79, Georgetown, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Autumn Woods Healthcare Campus in New Albany.
Born Jan. 24, 1929, in Corydon, he was the son of the late Ora Harold and Mary Louise Watson Reed.
He was a self-employed excavating contractor and a past member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Corydon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Reed; two sisters, Faye Reas and Berniece Thompson; a stepsister, Lillian Byrne; and a stepbrother, Jim Cannon.
Survivors include his wife, the former Imogene Bowman; a son, Howard Kevin Reed of New Albany; a daughter, Karen Sheckell of Georgetown; two sisters, Bonnie Burnett and Belle Brown, both of New Salisbury; four stepsisters, Rose Conrad of Corydon, Linda Windell of New Middletown, Sharon Loew of Lanesville and Mona Brown of Vine Grove, Ky.; two stepbrothers, Keith Cannon of New Salisbury and Carl Cannon of Lanesville; three grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation: Wednesday, Dec. 10, from noon to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 11, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
Funeral: Thursday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown.
Officiant: The Rev. Beverly Perry.
Pallbearers: Vincent, Matthew and Brian Sheckell, Dennis, Bradley and Ronnie Reas, Keith Cannon and Forrest Bowman.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
