Jack G. Atkins

Jack G. Atkins, 69, Birdseye, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at 12:54 p.m. at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.
Born March 18, 1939, in Birdseye, he was the son of Mae Oxley Atkins of Birdseye and the late Warner Atkins.
He retired after 33 years with Southern Railways and was a member of the Birdseye Masonic Lodge and Birdseye Pentecostal Church.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Brittany and Tiffany Atkins.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Mary Lee Lawrence; two sons, David and Darin Atkins, both of Birdseye; a sister, Doris Abrams of Georgetown; a brother, Larry Atkins of Birdseye; and a grandson.
Funeral: Sunday, Oct. 26, at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial in Birdseye Cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor Gene Throop.
