Esther M. Stroud

Esther M. Canoles Stroud, 82, Milltown, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at 4:45 p.m. at the home of her granddaughter, Robin Allen.
Born Sept. 16, 1926, in Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Pauline Davis Canoles.
She was the former owner of the old Seacat Grocery in Valeene and a member of Milltown Christian Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Orville Stroud; her stepmother, Berniece Chastain; two brothers, Garland Taylor and Paul Williams; and two sisters, Pearl Canoles and Mary Ellen Barrett.
Survivors besides her granddaughter include a daughter, Cindy Dearborn of Milltown; three brothers, Don Taylor of Tyler, Texas, and Jim Williams and Vernon Canoles, both of Paoli; five sisters, Anna Birge and Marilyn Crow, both of Tuscon, Ariz., Valeria Hutslar of Connersville and Carolyn Dalton and Ann Apple, both of Paoli; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation: Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 24, after 9 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Milltown.
Funeral: Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Cook-Tucker Cemetery.
Officiant: Brother John Helm.
