Ruth A. Sparks

Ruth A. Sparks, 86, Anderson, formerly of Corydon, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 23, 1921, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Ora B. and Verna Van Blaricom Griffith.
She was a homemaker, a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in music, was a pianist who also taught lessons in her home and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday school, played the piano and sang in the choir.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Sparks, and two brothers, George and Perry Griffith.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. C. Kenneth Sparks; a daughter, Rebecca Parks of DeWitt, Mich.; a son, Stephen Sparks of Leese, Germany; four grandchildren; a step-grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Sunday, Aug. 24, at First Church of Nazarene with burial Monday in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Gary Cable.
Arrangements: Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory in Anderson.
