Opinions matter and we want yours

It has been a while since The Corydon Democrat has done an official survey of what its readers, as well as non-readers, expect from the leading news source of Harrison County.
That’s not to say that through the years the editors and reporters, along with those in advertising and production, haven’t listened to feedback from you about what you like/dislike or would like to have included in this newspaper that was founded in 1856. There have been changes to The Democrat, as many of us refer to it; some features have been dropped while others were added. But the overall goal has remained the same: to deliver the news to the best of our ability.
With technology ever-changing, the newspaper industry has attempted to continually meet the needs of its readers. Those of you who read other newspapers probably have noticed the smaller width of those publications. A more compact product is the new wave and an industry change that all newspapers are going to have to make in the near future.
Including The Corydon Democrat.
Our staff has been holding redesign meetings for the past few months to talk about what all this means for us and the possibilities that lay ahead. And we’re excited about this opportunity to make changes in how we present the news to you.
To help us through this process, we want ‘ and need ‘ your input. So, during the next several weeks, we will be taking surveys that ask you for your opinion about our product. One of the first opportunities for you to take this survey will be next week at the Harrison County Fair. Visit our booth, which will be located under the grandstand this year. Those who take the couple of minutes to answer the survey will have their name entered into a drawing for a $250 gas card.
Surveys will also be sent in the mail to our subscribers and we will randomly poll others in our efforts to learn more about what people think of our product and what they would like to see in the newspaper. Those people who complete the survey will also be entered into the gas giveaway.
As always, my door ‘ and my phone line ‘ is always open to you. So, if we don’t reach you with our survey and you have a thought about our product, I invite you to contact me. After all, The Corydon Democrat is here to serve you, and your opinion does matter to us.
