Erika H. Meissner

Erika H. Meissner, 90, Elizabeth, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
A native of Germany, she emigrated to the United States seven years ago.
After graduating from nursing school at the top of her class, she served her country during World War II as a Red Cross nurse who cared for the wounded. She was also a seamstress and was retired from a civil service job.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred R. Meissner, and a sister, Gertrud Merling.
Survivors include a daughter, Ursela Lacer of Elizabeth; a son, Alfred N. Meissner of Germany; two granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
The family suggests memorial gifts to The Kentucky Hemophilia Foundation, 1850 Taylor Avenue No. 2, Louisville, KY 40213 or the donor’s favorite charity.
