Ohio Valley Storm headed to Nationals
Eight teenage girls from the area have been hitting the hardwood since early spring. They have come together from several high schools to play AAU basketball as the Ohio Valley Storm team.
The team is made up of sophomores-to-be including Corydon Central’s Malea Dunaway and Heather Uhl, along with South Central’s Shelby Miller. Also on the team are Brooke Elmore (Jennings County), Sarah Hopf (Forest Park), Chelsea Jellison (Crawford County), Jennifer Smith (Floyd Central) and Jordyn Wroblewski (Salem).
In June, the Ohio Valley Storm qualified for the AAU Indiana State Tournament. They entered the tournament seeded 16 of 16 teams. After a weekend of play, they finished fifth in the state and qualified for the National AAU Tournament in Clarksville, Tenn. The event will be held July 21 through 27.
The team is coached by Les Smith.
Anyone who would like to help support the team with donations to help cover the cost of the national tournament can mail them to Ohio Valley Storm AAU, 2395 Molly Brown Drive, Corydon, IN 47112.
