Mabel F. Roll
Mabel Fern Doolittle Roll, 98, Leavenworth, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at 9:52 a.m. at Todd-Dickey Nursing Home in Leavenworth.
Born Aug. 30, 1909, in Cape Sandy, she was the daughter of the late Dora Smucker and James Doolittle.
She was the owner/operator of the Lookout Drive-in in Fredonia, a pianist for several churches in Crawford County and the River Ramblers Band, participated in the annual sorghum festival, was a lifelong member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Cape Sandy, and was a member of the Arts and Crafts Guild of Crawford County, Daughters of the Revolution and Friendly Neighbors.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Culvert Roll; three infant children, Marvin, Maurice and Barbara; three brothers, Jesse, David and Ira Doolittle; and two sisters, Helen Coleman and Rhea Doolittle.
Survivors include a child, Julian Sacksteder of Leavenworth; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Wednesday, July 2, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church followed by burial in East Cemetery.
Officiant: Bryan Vincent.
