James R. Turecek, 85, Mishawaka, formerly of Milroy, died Monday, June 16, 2008, at his home.
Born June 6, 1923, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Joseph and Clara Adams Turecek.
He was a Navy veteran who served during World War II and the Korean War, was a pharmacist at Hooks Drugs for 27 years before retiring in 1987, was a 45-year member of Coalbush United Methodist Church in Mishawaka, and was a member of the American Legion, the Eagles in Shelbyville, St. Joseph County Pharmaceutical Association and Penn High School Boosters, where he was a past board of directors member.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Arndt, in 1993; a sister, Lucy Swalla; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Yvonne Miller; two daughters, Mary Ann Campbell and Leslie Merritt, both of Zionsville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, June 19, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hahn Funeral Home and Friday, June 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Coalbush United Methodist Church, both in Mishawaka.
Funeral: Friday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at the church.
Officiant: The Rev. Jim Davidson.
Burial, with a graveside service, will be Saturday, June 21, at 2 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
