Earl R. Schamel

Earl Ray Schamel, 84, New Albany, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at Autumn Woods Health Care in New Albany.
Born in New Albany, he was a retired plant manager for Dryden Provision Co., was an Army veteran of World War II who served with the 1st Engineer Special Brigade on D-Day, and was a graduate of Bryant and Stratton Business College.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, the former Mildred Ann Sanders; two sons, Steve Schamel of Greenville and Gregg Schamel of Warren, Mich.; three daughters, Monica Schamel and Maria Lancaster, both of New Albany, and Marsha Schamel of Louisville; a brother, Jack Schamel of Greenville; a sister, Jean Homberger of Greenville; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen.
Arrangements: Chapman Funeral Home in Clarksville.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Floyd County Animal Rescue League.
