SAC announces spring sports award winners
Lanesville placed five athletes on the recent All-Southern Athletic Conference team. The Lady Eagles were represented by Beth Glomb, Kari McCormick, Ashley Schoen, Shelby Fonda and Ashley Royalty.
South Central placed three on the team: Brooke Best, Paige Kingsley and Carolyn Zipp.
Also on the All-SAC team were Henryville’s Amanda Embry, Ashley Dickerson, Kelcey Pierce, Rebecca Snodgrass and Carissa Embry along with Crothersville’s Trista Engle.
Henryville’s Jenny Odle and Amanda Embry were named Coach and Player of the Year, respectively.
Henryville won the SAC softball title with a perfect 4-0 record. Lanesville finished second with a 3-1 mark, followed by South Central (2-2), New Washington (1-3) and Crothersville (0-4).
The SAC girls’ All Sports Trophy went to New Washington with a total of 22 points. Lanesville finished third (18.5), and South Central was fourth (14.5).
In SAC baseball, South Central finished in a three-way tie with Borden and Henryville for the league title. All three finished with 3-1 records. Lanesville was fourth at 2-3 followed by Crothersville and New Washington.
All-Conference performers from South Central were Micah Decker, Wesley Hedden and Chip Hockenbury. From Lanesville, Jarrett Beach and Kenton Acton were named All-SAC.
The team was filled out by Henryville’s Kenny Harrell, Taylor Stone and Colan Cannon; Borden’s Trevor Wagoner, Jeremy Blandford and Dylan Martin; and Crothersville’s Cameron Royalty.
Coach of the Year went to Henryville’s Jeff Schroeder, and Player of the Year honors went to the Hornets’ Kenny Harrell.
The SAC boys’ All-Sports Trophy went to Henryville with a total of 32 points. Lanesville finished third with 24 points, followed by South Central in fourth with 16.
