The Class 3A Crawford County softball sectional could possibly pit the two favorites ‘ Corydon Central and North Harrison ‘ before the sectional final.
The softball draw, released Thursday morning, will pit Corydon Central in the opening game Monday against Silver Creek. The winner will face North Harrison, which received a bye, next Wednesday in the late semi-final game.
Tuesday’s games will open with Salem vs. Mitchell, followed by host school Crawford County playing Charlestown. The winners of Tuesday’s games will play in the early semi-final Wednesday.
The championship game is scheduled to take place Thursday at 7 p.m.
Corydon Central enters ranked No. 10 and defenders of the sectional crown. They, along with No. 9 North Harrison, will be gunning for their fourth sectionals in school history, while Crawford County seeks its first.
In Class A, host Lanesville will seek revenge on Henryville, who snapped a three-year streak of sectional titles for the Lady Eagles last season.
No. 9 Henryville will open play against Christian Academy on Monday at 5 p.m. The winner of that game will play New Washington in one semi-final on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
South Central and No. 11 Lanesville will play in the opposite semi-final of the five-team sectional. Last season, Lanesville eliminated South Central with a 7-6 victory in eight innings. The two teams will meet in the first game Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The championship game will be Thursday at 5 p.m.
South Central will look to win its second softball sectional; the last came in 1998. Lanesville is searching for its fourth sectional title.
