Primary Election next week
As if anyone could forget, the May Primary Election is Tuesday.
The ballot includes school board members, county officials, state races, all the way up to President of the United States. And both parties ‘ Democrats and Republicans ‘ have contested races.
Harrison County Circuit Clerk Sherry Brown said yesterday morning that 503 official ballots had been cast via absentee voting. However, including ballots mailed on Monday, Brown said that number is nearing 550.
There are 28,309 registered voters in Harrison County, and Brown wants to remind them that when they go to the polls on Tuesday, they need to bring photo identification to cast their ballots.
Brown mentioned driver’s licenses, a state identification card, any state university ID card with an expiration date or a passport as possible forms of identification that could be used.
The hours to cast an absentee ballot at the clerk’s office, located on the second floor of the Harrison County Court House, between now and Tuesday’s primary election are today (Wednesday) through Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. On Saturday, the office will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Monday, voters can go to the office to vote from 8 a.m. to noon.
For voters who will cast their ballots are Tuesday, the polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
