Ferdinand A. (Ferd) Goffinet, 83, Tell City, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at 2:30 a.m. at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City.
Born May 19, 1924, in Ranger, he was the son of the late Albert H. and Laura Dupont Goffinet.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, a Perry County farmer, the owner-operator of Goffinet Electrical and Plumbing and Goffinet General Store with locations in St. Croix and Gatchel, a former employee of the U.S. Forestry Service and Branchville Correctional Facility and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Goffinet, and a sister, Mary Catherine Hagedorn.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, the former Claris L. James; five daughters, Susie Ridener of St. Croix, Patricia Howell of Gatchel, Rosa Hutchins of Oriole, Emma Hoffman of Hampton, Va., and Theresa Bennett of Chrisney; four sons, Donnie Goffinet of Corydon, Charlie Goffinet of Mount Pleasant, Gerald Goffinet of Derby and Michael Goffinet of Long Beach, Miss.; a sister, Ann Ford of Reo; a brother, Leonard A. Goffinet of Tell City; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, March 7, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Huber Funeral Home-Tell City Chapel.
Prayer service: Friday, March 7, at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral: Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial Monday, March 10, in the church cemetery, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 213.
