Joseph W. Courtney
Joseph W. (Jay) Courtney, 89, New Albany, died Monday morning, Feb. 25, 2008, at Providence Retirement Home.
He was a retired employee of E.I. DuPont Inc. and farmed in Palmyra for a number of years. He was an Army Signal Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany and a life member of VFW Hobart Beach Post 1693.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Atherton and Cindy Collins, both of Floyds Knobs, and Connie Stephenson of Naples, Fla.; a brother, Stanley Courtney of Lanesville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass: Thursday, Feb. 28, at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Holy Family Catholic Church or Providence Retirement Home in New Albany.
