Vernon Burton

Vernon Burton, 68, Palmyra, formerly of Adair County, Ky., died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at 9:06 p.m. at Jewish Hospital in Louisville after several weeks’ illness.
The son of the late William Silas and Anna Lou Burdine Burton, he was employed by the Pillsbury Co. in New Albany for 35 years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Hollis Burton, and three sisters, Eula Warren, Beulah Warren and Etta Overstreet.
Survivors include his wife, the former Shirley Warren of Knifley, Ky.; a son, Kevin Burton of Corydon; three daughters, Peggy Clark of Leopold, Rhonda Snider of Pekin and Dee Dee Kessinger of Corydon; a sister, Goldie Jones of Knifley; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Monday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, Ky., with interment in Bearwallow Cemetery.
Officiant: Brother Bill Warren.
Pallbearers: Allan Beavers, Ryan Burton, Bill Grant, Tommy Kessinger, Jimmy Overstreet and Doug Snider.
