Loretta M. Padgett

Loretta Mae Wheat Padgett, 101, Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Lanesville, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Feb. 10, 1906, in Corydon Junction, she was the daughter of the late Lef George and Elizabeth Wheat.
She attended Oakland City College, graduated in 1927 with a teaching degree and taught in one-room schools in Harrison County. She was a member of Baptist Tabernacle in Louisville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cooper Padgett; two sisters, Joyce Thompson and Edna Lone; and two children, Vivian J. Ritter and Robert Gene Padgett.
Survivors include a son, Cooper J. Padgett; a daughter, Betty J. Robertson; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Generations Funeral Home in New Albany.
Funeral: Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Martinsburg Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the donor’s favorite charity.
