Bennie N. Goelzer

Bennie N. Goelzer, 85, Greenville, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at the Veteran Administration Medical Center in Louisville.
Born June 25, 1922, in Mount Carmel, Ill., he was the son of the late John and Minnie Birch Goelzer.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a self-employed mechanic and welder.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bennye Faye Purvis.
Survivors include his wife, the former Juanita Beld; three daughters, Minnie (Tootsie) Payne of Salem, Betty Hall of New Salisbury and Rose Cannon of Corydon; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Dec. 17, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 18, after 9 a.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Funeral: Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home in Ramsey with burial in Central Barren Cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor Greg Underwood.
Pallbearers: Danny and Thomas Payne, Tony Kilburn, Mark Hall, James McGuire and Larry Hubert.
Military rites: Performed at graveside by members of Milltown American Legion Post 332.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society or Hospice in care of Veterans Hospital in Louisville.
