Lady Rebs headed to Hinkle

The ‘Lady Rebel Schedule Anyone Tour’ heads to Hinkle Fieldhouse on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis on Saturday.
On the slate Saturday for South Central is back-to-back Class 2A state champion Heritage Christian. Last season, Heritage Christian went 26-3 and is currently 5-0 to start the defense of its state title.
South Central’s resum’ has also been strong in recent years, winning four consecutive sectional titles from 2003 to 2006 in Class A, along with reaching the state finals in 2006.
Heritage Christian, located in the northeast region of Indianapolis, is coached by Rick Risinger. They are led by a trio of juniors, Kelly Faris, Claire Freeman and Emily Anderson, all who averaged at least 10 points per game a year ago. The young squad boasts one senior, Alicia Boyd.
Playing Heritage Christian is another game on the beefed up Lady Rebels’ schedule. They previously took one on the chin from Class 4A Jeffersonville. They also have upcoming non-conference games against North Harrison (today, Wednesday), Corydon Central, Austin and Floyd Central. They will also play in a Floyd Central Tournament the last week of December that features several strong programs from Indiana and Kentucky.
The Heritage Christian match-up will be played at Hinkle Fieldhouse, which was built in 1928. It was announced recently that a scheduling conflict with the Horizon League, which Butler University is a part of, will cause Hinkle to not host a boys’ basketball tournament game for the first time since World War II.
Tickets are available at South Central High School for $10. Tickets will be $12 at the door.
