Lady Rebels move to 2-0, topple Springs Valley 69-38

Class A No. 2 South Central improved to 2-0 on the season, defeating Springs Valley Friday 69-38.
Springs Valley led after the first quarter 12-11, but the Lady Rebels outscored the host team 39-21 in the second half. South Central knocked down seven treys in the victory.
Senior standout Brittany Schoen sat out the entire second quarter in foul trouble, but the Lady Rebels were able to outscore Springs Valley 19-5 behind Megan Sherrard (11 points), Paige Kingsley (10 points) and Shelby Miller (14 points).
Schoen scored 19 of her team-high 24 points in the second half. Candice Cartwright finished with six points and eight rebounds for the Lady Rebels.
‘The brightest spot of the night was we were able to pull away with Brittany on the bench and Kingsley put both their post players in foul trouble in the second quarter,’ said South Central coach Randall Schoen.
The Lady Rebels will face a big challenge tonight (Wednesday) when they travel to Class 4A Jeffersonville. The Red Devils (1-2) are coming off a 67-54 loss to Bedford North Lawrence. On Saturday, South Central will play a 1 p.m. contest at Rock Creek Christian.
