Virginia Dempsey

Virginia W. (Ginny) Crawford Dempsey, 81, Clarksville, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Westminster Healthcare in Clarksville.
Born Feb. 10, 1926, in Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Henry B. and Hallie Wilson Crawford.
She was a musician and vocalist, served as the first organist at First Southern Baptist Church in Clarksville and was a 42-year member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville, where she sang in the Living Christmas Tree performances.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey L. Dempsey Sr.; a son, Terry W. Dempsey; and a brother, Lynn Crawford.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey L. Dempsey II of Clarksville; two daughters, Valerie D. Spann of Clarksville and Jan D. Harris of Georgetown; two sisters, Kathleen Dempsey and Martha Smith, both of Louisville; a brother, Larry Crawford of Elkton, Md.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Oct. 29, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Kraft Funeral Chapel in New Albany.
Funeral: Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville.
