Robbery suspect apprehended
Officers from the Corydon Police Dept. and Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept. apprehended an alleged bank robbery suspect in downtown Corydon Thursday afternoon. The robbery took place about 2:20 p.m. at the Chestnut Street branch of Community First Bank.
The robbery was committed by a white male wearing light colored blue jeans and a black jacket with writing on the back. The suspect made verbal demands to the bank employee and implied the use of a weapon, but never displayed a weapon. After the robbery, he fled the bank on foot.
Police located the suspect about 30 minutes later as he was walking south on North Capitol Avenue near the sidewalk that separates Harrison County Court House and the First State Capitol Building.
David R. Waltz, 24, Corydon was arrested for robbery, a Class C felony.
An undisclosed amount of money was located after the arrest. No one in the bank was injured. Indiana State Police are investigating the robbery with assistance from local authorities.
