Bands close regular season; regional this Saturday at Warren Central

The North Harrison Marching Cougars and Corydon Central Vanguard finished the regular competitions of marching band season on Saturday.
This Saturday, both bands will attempt to advance from regional to state of the Indiana State School Music Association’s competition.
The Marching Cougars are coming off a second-place finish Saturday at Center Grove High School. The Vanguard finished fifth in the same class at that competitions.
Here are the complete results from Center Grove:
Class D ‘ Clay City, first, Best Music, Best Visual and Best General Effect; North Decatur, second; Indian Creek, third;
Class C ‘ North Wood, first, Best Music and Best General Effect; North Harrison, second; Beech Grove, third and Best Visual; Heritage Hills, fourth; Corydon Central, fifth; Boonville, People’s Choice;
Class B ‘ Greenwood, first, Best Music, Best Visual, Best General Effect and People’s Choice; Jasper, second; Bedford North Lawrence, third; Columbus East, fourth;
Class A ‘ Carmel, first, Best Music, Best Visual and Best General Effect; Lawrence Central, second; Bloomington South, People’s Choice.
Saturday night, the Vanguard also competed at Salem. Here are those results:
Class A ‘ Borden, first, Best Music, Best Visual, Best General Effect, Best Percussion and Best Drum Major; New Washington, second and Best Auxiliary; West Washington, third; Charlestown, fourth;
Class AA ‘ Pekin Eastern, first, Best Music and Best Drum Major; Henryville, second, Best General Effect and Best Visual (tie); Silver Creek, third, Best Percussion and Best Visual (tie); Rising Sun, fourth and Best Auxiliary;
Class AAA ‘ Paoli, first, Best Visual and Best General Effect; Floyd Central, second, Best Music and Best Percussion; Springs Valley, third and Best Drum Major; Scottsburg, fourth and Best Auxiliary; Corydon Central, fifth.
Both Corydon Central and North Harrison will compete Saturday in Class C at Warren Central High School. The competition starts at noon. The Vanguard takes the field at 12:39 p.m. The Marching Cougars drew the second half lineup; they perform at 2:36 p.m.
The top five bands in Class C at Warren Central will advance to state on Saturday, Oct. 20, held in the RCA Dome in Indianapolis. There, they will compete with the top five bands from Chesterton High School, the north regional site.
