Elizabeth A. (Betty) Mack, 75, Rock Island, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at her home after a brief battle with cancer.
Born June 4, 1932, in Corydon, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Mary Ernstberger Hauswald.
She was a graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Louisville and continued her nursing career at the former Lutheran Hospital in Moline. She was a registered nurse at several physicians’ offices in Rock Island and retired in 1992 from McLaughlin Body Co. in Moline as an industrial nurse. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rock Island, where she was a lector and served 11 years as president of the Ladies Sodality, and was a member of the Aim and Fire bowling league, serving as president and secretary at times.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Hauswald and Kathleen Cook.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Vernon E. Mack; two daughters, Susan Mack of Rock Island and Kathy Miner of Cary; a son, Jim Mack of Moline; three sisters, Barbara Freeman of Louisville, Dot Thomas of Sellersburg and Marge Warner of Rockton, Ill.; two brothers, Charles and Jim Hauswald, both of Corydon; and five grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Oct. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wheelan-Pressley Funeral Home in Rock Island.
Rosary: Monday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral: Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Rock Island National Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Sacred Heart Parish in Rock Island.
