John M. Luther
John M. Luther, 53, Simpsonville, S.C., died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at 10:50 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Hospital in South Carolina from injuries sustained in a fall at a construction site.
Born July 12, 1954, in Corydon, he was the son of the late Ivan Oscar Luther and Frieda Kinzer Luther.
He graduated from North Harrison High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1977 and a master’s degree in 1978 from Purdue University, where he played on the baseball team. He was president of Land Development Inc., BFC Construction Inc., a licensed civil engineer, a member of Five Forks Baptist Church in Simpsonville and the Faithful Sunday School Class, a former deacon and director of the Brotherhood of the church and former chairman of the Hospitality Committee, as well as chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee.
Survivors include his wife, the former Peggy Batson; four sisters, Glory A. Luther of Fontana, Calif., Linda Zabel of Lanesville, Rose Luther-Neary of Safford, Ariz., and Jeanie Farrior of Charleston, S.C.; and two brothers, Arlis Luther of Ellisnore, Mo., and Michael Luther of Denver.
Funeral: Monday, Aug. 13, at Five Forks Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Arrangements: Mackey Funeral Home in South Carolina.
