Robert L. Reilly
Robert L. Reilly, 71, Corydon, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born May 8, 1936, in New Albany, he was an Air Force veteran of the Korean era, a retired electrician at Geon Chemical Co. in Louisville and a member of the Pfrimmer’s Chapel United Methodist Church near Corydon, where he was a lay leader and lay speaker. He was a board member and treasurer for Freed From Within, was active in the Emmaus community and Residents Encounter Christ, was on the board of ordained ministers, and was president of Harrison Education and Literacy Program (HELP), which teaches computer classes to jail inmates.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon J. Reilly; two sisters, Pamela Reilly and Penny Bernhardt; and an infant daughter, Stephanie Reilly.
Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara Barksdale of Corydon; three sons, Robert L. Gleeson of Mechanicsville, N.Y., Gregory Reilly of Corydon and Mark Reilly of Jeffersonville; his mother, Bertha Bigland of Indianapolis; four brothers, James Reilly of Corydon, William and Stephan Reilly, both of Floyds Knobs, and Michael Reilly of Indianapolis; two sisters, Deloris Sanders of Clarksville and Darlene Conrad of Greenville; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, Aug. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 11, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at Pfrimmers Chapel United Methodist Church near Corydon with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiant: The Rev. Tim Johnson.
Pallbearers: Ron Miller, Paul and Bill Reilly, Bill Hinton, John Pearce and Rusty Cecil.
Honorary pallbearers: Bob Briscoe, Gary Loy, Bob Metts, Bob Campbell, Dennis Byrd and Rick Quebbeman.
