George W. Rogers Sr.

George W. Rogers Sr., 84, Lanesville died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.
Born Aug. 31, 1922, in Louisville, he was the son of the late George W. and Henrietta Muerer Rogers.
He was a retired tool and die maker for Reynolds Aluminum in Louisville, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Karen Sue Rogers Phelps and Dianna Jean Rogers Ferguson; two sisters, Maureen Hutchinson and Betty Folks; and two brothers, Author and Henry Rogers.
Survivors include his wife, the former Carrie Huff; eight sons, George Rogers Jr. of Lanesville, Mike Rogers of Corbin, Ky., Tom, John and Joe Rogers, all of Georgetown, Rob Rogers of Palmyra, Jim Rogers of Corydon and Dave Rogers of Fort Myers, Fla.; a daughter, Kathy Rogers Blackman of Corydon; two sisters, Martha Miller and Mary Jo Derkavitch, both of Buffalo, N.Y.; 26 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 8, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
Funeral: Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville followed by burial in the church cemetery with military honors at the graveside.
Officiant: Father Harold Ripperger.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice & Palliative Care of Southern Indiana.
